Caring for Kids

This ministry fills in the gap for needs that arise throughout the year at Hickory Grove Elementary School. The ministry grew out of a specific need expressed by Hickory Grove Elementary School at our Children’s Sabbath worship service in 2016. Our speaker, from the school, stated there was a pressing need for socks and underwear for students who got dirty during the day or needed those basic articles of clothing.

School Uniforms Needed

Caring for Kids is collecting school uniforms and other items.

  • Uniform pants. Blue or tan. Sizes 4 up to 12
  • Uniform shirts. Blue or white. Sizes 4 up to 12
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant)
  • Boys & girls underwear (various sizes)
  • Boys & girls belts (various sizes)
  • Boys & girls socks (various sizes)
  • Boys & girls sneakers (sizes 3 up to 8)

Any size you can donate will be used and appreciated.

The uniform items (shirts and pants) can be found at Wal-Mart, Target, etc. They do not have any type of emblem on them. The items are plain shirts/polos and pants.

Contact Susan by phone or email. Provide your name and contact information to volunteer.

School Supplies Need

Hickory Grove Elementary would appreciate donations of items like ‘fun’ pencils and erasers, party favor type items etc. Caring for Kids is also collecting school supplies for returning students. The most needed items are: backpacks, pencils, any used children’s books, Lysol wipes, folders, notebooks, markers, lined paper, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, crayons and construction paper.

Place items in the bins marked for Hickory Grove Elementary in the FLC and church hallway and they will be distributed to the school and any student needing supplies.

Watch for more information about specific items we will be collecting each Sunday in August. Contact Susan with any questions.
