"Our youth ministry exists to build an open, trusting, Christian environment where all are accepted. As believers in Christ Jesus, we will strive to experience and enjoy life with the support of our community of believers."
UMYF MOTTO: CHRIST ABOVE ALL!
We are organized for ministry through five areas:
Fellowship- Times to get to know, interact with, and care for one another
Service- Times to "act" our faith
Worship- Times to praise God
Study-Discussion- Times to reflect together on the content and meaning of the gospel and other chosen topics
Outreach- Time to reach out to others in order to be a community of believers
-We meet every Sunday night. Our meetings are generally structured with time for fellowship and recreation ( includes snack supper), business, and a program.
-For those interested in music, we have two groups that meet on Sunday evenings, prior to UMYF meeting. Our Praise Band provides an opportunity for those gifted in playing a musical instrument while the Youth Choir allows youth to use their voice to sing and praise God.
-We have a monthly newsletter called "Spotlight" which provides a monthly look at activities which are coming up as well as articles about events, reminders, sign up information for trips, and prayer concerns for that month.
CALLED TO CHRIST
We are called to Christ--
to experience his grace that from birth and Baptism has sought us and
loved us;
to know him as our Savior and Lord;
to encounter him again and again throughout our lives.
We are called to be Christ's church--
to join with children, other youth, and adults as disciples;
to study the Bible;
to experience the richness of many cultures and colors;
to celebrate Christ's presence through the sacraments;
to call the entire Church to a deeper witness and faith.
We are called to grow in Christ--
to pray, to study, to give of our gifts;
to make faithful decisions in all that we do;
to know God and be known by God more and more, day after day.
We are called to serve Christ--
to bring light and hope to the world;
to tell of God's grace in our lives;
to work for God's justice and peace;
to view all of life as vocation, a call to follow Christ;
to passionately and boldly live this call in our community and world.
